Church Heritage

New Day has a blessed history with many amazing leaders connected to our family. This fantastic picture was taken in June 2010 when all of our pastors, sister church pastors and church plant pastors were gathered together for a wedding:

  • In the center front is Pastor Ken and Lisa Norberg.  Pastor Ken founded New Day Community Church (Then Redemption Center, and later Redemption Christian Assembly [RCA]) in Spring 1981.
  • Behind him on the left is Pastor Cameron Wright and his wife, Kathie. They began attending in Fall of 1981.  Pastor Cameron is the current pastor of New Day, MI, and was assistant pastor under Pastor Ken before he became senior pastor in 1999.
  • Next to them on the right is Pastor Dennis and Kaku Sager.  Pastor Dennis attended RCA before marrying Kaku and starting our sister church, Hope International Fellowship, in Japan in 1993.
  • Behind them is Pastor Scott and Alicia Nelson.  They pastor our sister church, New City Church, in Kalamazoo.
  • Behind Pastor Cameron and Kathie is Pastors Ron and Kim Cipcic.  They were in leadership under Pastor Cameron at New Day until being sent out as a church plant to start Grand River Church in Grand Rapids, MI in June, 2003.
  • Next to them is Pastors Scott and Stephanie Jones.  They served as assistant pastors at New Day until God sent them to plant New Day Community Church in Summerville, SC in 2008.
  • It is interesting to note that by the early ’90s, Ken, Cameron, Scott, Scott, Dennis, Ron and many of their now wives were all friends and attending RCA.

It has been an honor to see how God has used New Day to send out people to bless new communities not just across Michigan, or the U.S., but the whole world. We look forward to seeing Christ’s love continue to spread through these great leaders and each and every member of these churches!

“I do all this to spread the Good News, and in doing so I enjoy its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9:23

“Finally, dear brothers and sisters, I ask you to pray for us. Pray first that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1
